19/01/2015 » Axiom Opens Summer Season at Mar Del Plata

19/01/2015

On January 3rd more than 60,000 people gathered at Punta Mogotes’ beach in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires province, to take part in the sixth Folk Songs Festival which is traditionally the inaugural event that marks the introduction of the Argentinian Summer season. Popular artists including Argentina's most famous pop rock band Tan Bionica performed on stage, as well as singer-songwriter, composer and musician Alejandro Lerner, and Tango singer Raul Lavié.

Local rental company Martin Cazou Sonido supplied the Axiom line array sound system, which was specified to cover an extended audience area of 100 metres long by 150 metres wide. For this event chief sound engineer Raul Alberto Casadey decided to fly 12 Axiom AX2010A powered line array modules on each side, with a central block of 10 SW218A powered subwoofers arranged in an arc in front of the stage. Axiom was chosen for the delay towers also, with 12 AX2010A modules used without subwoofers at a distance of 67 metres from the main PA. The stage monitoring was entrusted to 16 of the well respected Proel EDGE15CXA monitors, which are a benchmark for the main sound engineers in Argentina.

In an event normally managed with large-format line array systems, the mid-sized Axiom system totally amazed musicians, sound technicians and audience alike, thanks to the astonishing venue coverage, exceptional dynamics, lack of distortion and excellent sound quality.
