06/02/2015 » The Essence of Sound: AXIOM seminar Peru

06/02/2015

Proel hosted a one-day workshop on its acclaimed Axiom professional line array loudspeaker systems in conjunction with its exclusive distributor Corporacion Sonotec SAC in Lima, Peru on 27th January. The Presentación de Line Array Axiom de Proel was held at the Convention Centre El Huaralino, home of the Universidad Nacional de San Martin. Around 60 sound engineers, rental company owners, technicians, and audio technology students attended the all-day workshop, which was organised by Sonotec's owners Jesus and Paulo Aguilar, and their Axiom product specialist Joseph Hernandez.

Entitled 'Axiom: The Essence of Sound', the workshop explained the technology behind the Axiom products and their applications in sound reinforcement, as well as basic line array theory and a discussion on how to use the industry standard EASE Focus 2 software to create simulations of audio system performance.

Participants were treated to a indoor demonstration of a very compact high power portable system consisting of two AX2065A powered line array elements, two AX2065P passive line array elements, and two SW215A double 15-inch powered subwoofers – a system ideally suited to high quality full range audio-visual applications.

Outdoors, a medium scale line array system was flown, comprising six AX2010A powered modules each side with a central block of eight ground stacked SW218A powered subwoofers. Additionally it was demonstrated how the new coaxial CX15A powered stage monitor can provide exceptional coverage and gain before feedback from an extremely compact, low profile wedge cabinet.

The AX2010P features dual 10-inch woofers plus two 1.4-inch compression drivers on an Acoustic Transmission Line HF Waveguide with 110° by 10° dispersion. The powered version (AX2010A) offers convenient setup, ease of use, and consistently repeatable performance.

The AX2065P is a compact 2 x 6.5-inch line array element with 110° by 12° dispersion, and uses a 1.4-inch compression driver with an edge-wound voice coil and titanium diaphragm for clear and dynamic high frequencies.

In its AX2065A powered version it is capable of powering one additional passive element, providing very efficient power management of a small system. The Axiom SW215A subwoofer is equipped with dual 15-inch drivers in a manifolded bandpass cabinet, while the SW218A uses dual 18-inch drivers in a manifolded transmission line enclosure.

The powered Axiom loudspeakers benefit from on-board DA series Class D digital power amplifier modules and digitally controlled Switch Mode Power Supplies, providing simplicity of setup and convenience of operation that is invaluable in mobile sound reinforcement applications.

With sound quality easily rivaling that of the best audiophile Class AB topologies, the DA series modules feature better dynamics, lower weight and far greater efficiency.
