The Parkway Theater, an iconic cultural hub on Chicago Avenue, has elevated its sound system to new heights with a comprehensive upgrade featuring AXIOM PRO AUDIO. This state-of-the-art system delivers unparalleled clarity and coverage, ensuring an exceptional experience for patrons and performers alike.

Originally built as a movie theater in 1931, The Parkway Theater was reimagined in 2018 into a vibrant venue hosting live music, comedy, film screenings, and community events. With a seating capacity of 365, the theater has become a cornerstone of Minneapolis’ arts scene, presenting over 350 shows annually. This recent sound system upgrade solidifies its commitment to offering top-tier productions.

The new AXIOM installation includes:

• 12 AX2010A High-Powered Vertical Array Elements
• 4 SW36XFA Dual 18” Very High Output, CORE Processed, Flyable Subwoofers
• 6 ED25P Front Fill Speakers, ensuring seamless and balanced coverage across the space.

This cutting-edge configuration was chosen for its remarkable voicing, innovative technology, and superior craftsmanship. “We selected AXIOM PRO AUDIO because of our confidence in the product and the outstanding support from their team,” said Loren Wiklander, Wiklander and Associates LLC. “Their expertise allowed us to design a system tailored to the venue’s unique needs, ensuring optimal sound quality for every event.”

Installation was completed overcoming the challenges of retrofitting a historic building. Local technicians Cody Anderson and Conner Snowden worked closely with AXIOM’s Italian tech support team to position the system flawlessly.

Since the upgrade, The Parkway Theater has hosted renowned artists such as T-Bone Burnett, The Shabby Road Orchestra, and Crystal Gayle, with upcoming performances by NRBQ, Judy Collins, and Bruce Cockburn. Feedback from sound engineers and performers has been overwhelmingly positive. “We're just so happy to have a state-of-the-art system in place to support all the great shows we do!” added Ben Geffen, Theater Manager.

Complementing the AXIOM speakers, the theater installed a DiGiCo S31 console with a D2 Rack, further enhancing its audio capabilities. Additionally, a Barco DP2K 23B projector now provides optimal lighting for both cinema and live events, ensuring The Parkway remains a leader in innovative production.
