APPLICATIONS
The AX2022A is engineered for professional touring productions, arenas, theatres, festivals and premium installed sound systems where maximum acoustic output, long-throw performance and consistent coverage are required. Delivering the highest power-to-size ratio in the AXIOM line array family, the system combines exceptional projection with a remarkably compact enclosure, making it equally suitable for large-scale rental applications and permanent installations.
Its integrated processing, amplification and networking architecture allow seamless deployment within fully networked AXIOM systems, while maintaining simple setup, predictable performance and centralized control.
DESCRIPTION
The AX2022A is a compact three-way powered vertical line array element built around two 10" dual-gap neodymium woofers and two coaxial MF/HF compression drivers. The coaxial architecture extends controlled directivity well beyond the traditional HF operating range, allowing the waveguide to remain effective throughout the vocal spectrum.
This design significantly improves sensitivity, reduces distortion and preserves intelligibility across the most critical frequency range while maintaining excellent phase coherence between all transducers. Combined with the dual 10" low-frequency section, the result is exceptional impact, clarity and musical accuracy throughout the operating bandwidth.
TRANSDUCERS
The low-frequency section employs two custom 10" dual-gap neodymium woofers with 3.5" ISV voice coils operating in parallel and loaded by AXIOM's transmission-line architecture for improved efficiency, transient response and controlled low-frequency reproduction.
The high-frequency section is based on two coaxial neodymium compression drivers, each integrating a dedicated 3" midrange voice coil and a separate 2" high-frequency voice coil. This unique architecture enables broadband directivity control from approximately 400 Hz up to 18 kHz while maintaining excellent vocal clarity and consistent coverage across the audience area.
SYSTEM CONCEPT AND SONIC PERFORMANCE
Constructed from reinforced phenolic birch plywood, the AX2022A is designed to withstand the demanding conditions of touring and permanent installation environments. The enclosure incorporates second-generation broadband directivity control technology, reducing rear radiation and minimizing acoustic interaction between adjacent array elements and reflective surfaces.
The system maintains remarkably consistent tonal balance from the front rows to the rear of the venue, preserving natural vocal reproduction and musical detail across the listening area. This controlled behavior reduces the need for corrective equalization while simplifying overall system optimization and improving audience coverage consistency.
SIGNAL PROCESSING AND POWER AMPLIFIERS
The AX2022A integrates a high-efficiency 4000 W Class-D amplifier with SMPS and PFC together with a fifth-generation SHARC+ floating-point DSP platform operating at 32-bit resolution and 24-bit converters, providing 121 dB dynamic range and exceptional signal integrity.
Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports support redundant AVB-Milan networking with up to four input channels, while AES70 provides standardized device control over the same infrastructure. The AXIOM AUDIA software platform offers centralized configuration, monitoring and system management, allowing active loudspeakers and passive systems powered by Q-NEX+ amplifiers to coexist within the same network and unified control environment.
HARDWARE
The enclosure is manufactured from reinforced 15/30 mm phenolic birch plywood and protected by a high-resistance water-based coating for maximum durability in touring and installation environments. The external frame suspension system with rear hinge mechanism provides fast, safe and precise array assembly while ensuring full compatibility with the AXIOM flying ecosystem.
Designed for efficient transportation, rapid deployment and long-term reliability, the mechanical architecture combines high structural rigidity with optimized weight distribution, making the AX2022A suitable for demanding professional applications.
